A collection of stories ON mental health experiences

“I have now been diagnosed with severe PTSD, anxiety and depression.”

Life started with physical and mental abuse from both parents, who then allowed a known paedophile to move in and ‘babysit’.

After the police visited them, they were deeply embarrassed and the abuse worsened as their reputation was spoiled.

They moved three hours away and I was told to forget about it, to get over it.

This still goes on today. After years of attempts to take my life, I finally ended up in hospital and was put in an acute facility for three weeks. I lost everything, my job, my house, my health, and my independence. I have now been diagnosed with severe PTSD, anxiety and depression.

Unfortunately, this has caused further embarrassment for my family and the mental abuse has worsened.

Local and government agencies are struggling to provide support other than medication. Medication is hard to keep consistent as I am on weekly dispensing.

Two options available to me: find work and get out of my parents’ house; and put another ‘patch’ over everything. Or maybe rely on just medication forever. Or, three: do it right this time!
